Tom Cruise comes to Didim

The actor was in the film, the ‘Operation’, which was the first feature length film in English to be screened at Didim’s newest cinema at its opening last Saturday March 7.

The cinema is on the left hand side of Ataturk Boulevard between the last island in Yenihisar and the Apollo Temple, in a former furniture hall.

The theatre has a single hall of 160 seats. There is also a cafeteria. The tickets are 5 TL for students and 7.50 TL for adults. Cinema owner Ercan Yıldırım said the theatre had cost 300,000 TL to convert.

He said: “About 100 tickets were sold for the first film. I believe it will increase in the coming days. We aim to hold at least four séances a day. We will also have a film for children on the weekends.”

The Turkish film “Güneşi Gördüm” will come soon, along with other English language films. Voices will print a schedule of films in future editions. Tom cruise’s film Operation will shown from 12.50pm on Sunday (March 15). Plans for a dedicated cinema to be built behind a petrol station on the main Didim to Akbuk road has been shelved for the present time. This Sunday will see an official opening.
